Georgia on my mind

Ok so yeah I jumped at the first opportunity to get back to Atlanta. Joe L. Reed of the Alabama Democratic Conference held a meeting for southern black democrats. There was a small crowd but it included Atlanta Mayor, Shirley Franklin and Rev. Al Sharpton . The discussion was based primarily on the qualities that the group wanted in a chair for the DNC as well as the DNC black caucus. DNC chair Candidate, Don Fowler spoke to the group. I was actually impressed with Mr. Fowler. His youthfulness can appeal to young America and keep them engaged. The one thing that stuck with me was his statement, "elections cannot be won in Washington" which is so true. We have to get away from the political consultants and pound the pavement to get our voters out. DNC vice-chair candidate, Marjorie Fields-Harris also spoke to the group. She is a sharpton protege and will make an excellent vice chair.

The dynamic of the group was amazing. On one end of the table you had an older group of blacks who were very active in the civil rights era. On the other end you have a somewhat younger group of blacks who were born during the time but too young to remember much of the civil rights movement so there are different perspectives. Then there was a handful (including me) who weren't born anywhere near that era and have a totally different view of issues that are important. I think these discussions may not end up with direct results but we all come out learning a little bit about different generations.

We are family

Today was a decent day. I had to work all day long so on my lunch break i went to my grandmother's house. My aunt, Phyllis Paxton , just came in town so i wanted to see her. Alot of my cousins were there including blogger, Nichelle
I had to run back to work and stayed there until closing. I went back to my grandmother's house to see my aunt, Theresa Perry , but she got sick and couldnt come home. Its great spending time with family. Its always relaxing. You feel so safe and secure, not having to wonder if you are going to say the wrong thing to the wrong group of people, you can always just be yourself.

Merry Christmas to All and to all a good night

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Today was a pretty decent day; chilled at the house with the fam most of the day. Then I went to my grandmother's house and chilled, then i went to my other grandmother's house and hung out there for about an hour or so.

Oh yeah, last night i went to my sister Erika's house and hung out with a couple of friend where we exchanged gifts ate and watched movies. I think Im calling it a night early because I have to be at work at 11 and im going to try to go to church for the 8am service.

During this Holiday season let us remember those that are less fortunate than us. May peace be with our soldiers in Iraq fighting this unjust war. May God Bless those homeless and hungry who do not have jobs. May He heal the sick who cannot afford adequate healthcare. May he calm the heart of those who feel like pariah's in their own country. May he forgive us for wasting the resources that he has given to us on earth. Lastly, may he keep these ideas in our mind so that we may remember why we are democrats

GRRRR

BAH FUCKIN HUMBUG!!!!!

Ok... I have a new level of respect for everyone who works retail. You have to put up with so much bullshit!!!! Then I have an even bigger level of respect for people who work in Western Hills Mall
These people are COMPLETE MORONIC IDIOTS!!!!! It makes no sense that mall security has to escort people out of the mall for fighting. Where are these kids parents. I am pro life but someone should have aborted these babies. Its a good thing that I saw alot of my people in the mall today that was the only thing that kept me sane.

Well, I got paid today and i have to be back at work in 11 hours so i need some sleep so i can wrap some gifts and go to the bank before i get back on the grind

375

I know most of us are upset over the results of the presidential election. Let's look on the bright side, if only 18-29 year olds were able to vote, Senator John Kerry would have one the election with 375 electoral votes. With that being said, College Democrats of America is throwing a party called 375 January 21, 2005 from 8pm until 11pm at MCCXXIII (1223)
1223 Connecticut Ave, NW
Washington, DC

This is going to be a great event to go to so get your plane ticket and hotel reserved for a KICK ASS PARTY!!!

On another note, US congresswoman and former US Senate democratic nominee Denise Majette has been appointed to a judgeship in the magistrate court in dekalb county, GA. Congratulations to her and Praise God!!! I will not have to answer the question "So what is Majette going to do now?"
